Joe Jones, founder and CEO of the Center for Urban Families, was selected as the recipient of the Walter Sondheim Public Service Award. Presented at last week’s Greater Baltimore Committee annual meeting, the award was given in recognition of Joe’s dedication to bettering the lives of men and women in Baltimore.

The work of the Center for Urban Families, which Warnock Family Foundation founder David Warnock has chaired for more than a decade, includes programs in responsible fatherhood, family stability and workforce development.

“Joe has become over the years a serious thought leader in the area of fatherhood and the connectivity between urban fathers, their kids, the workplace and child support issues,” David said.

The GBC’s Sondheim Award, created in 2007, recognizes individuals not elected to public office who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to community and serving the public good.
